Artificial photosynthesis is both an energy source and a climate change solution
Published on April 27, 2017, Jason MacLean at Cantech Letter examines artificial photosynthesis and the progress being made on it by researchers at the University of Central Florida. Until now, artificial photosynthesis research has been slow, as catalyst materials required for the process are mostly expensive ones such as platinum and iridium. The UCF team however, has developed a synthetic substitute made of titanium and organic molecules. Artificial photosynthesis is expected to be utilized as a way to convert carbon dioxide into a usable form of energy.
